TravelFactor, brought to you by Baxter Healthcare Corporation, is a place where you can turn for information about travelling when you have haemophilia or are the parent of a child with haemophilia. Baxter encourages parents to monitor their children's online use, and to help us protect their privacy by instructing them never to provide individually identifiable information ("personal information") on this site or any other site without parental permission.
Baxter understands parental concerns about Internet safety, privacy and that children under the age of 13 deserve special protection. If you are a parent of a child in this age group, please be sure to read our entire Privacy Policy.
Privacy policy
What Information Do We Collect, and Why Do We Collect It?
Given the largely informative nature of our Web site, we collect a limited amount of personal information. For example:
On our online forms, we collect the e-mail address that you fill in so that we can provide you with updates regarding the Web site; we also may ask for your name and address so that we can send you valuable information that you select by checking designated boxes.
This site also collects non-personal information. For example, like many Web sites, TravelFactor may use "cookies." A cookie is a small file that is transferred to your computer's hard drive to help us to improve content (e.g. it helps us figure out which parts of the site are popular and which are less popular, so we may improve these areas in the future) and to help us to customize Web site content and ads for our visitors. Cookies that we generate contain no personal information about you, and we will not combine cookie information with any personal information we have collected from you via this Web site. You may set your browser to reject cookies and to let you know when a cookie is being placed on your computer. This site also logs IP addresses and Internet browser types, but we do not link such information to your personal information.
How Do We Collect Information?
Our practice is to collect personal information directly - that is, by asking the visitor to provide it. We do not collect any personal information passively.
What Do We Do with the Information We Collect?
Whenever we do collect personal information from you, we will specify at the point of collection our purpose in collecting the information and identify any additional uses in our Privacy Policy. If you have indicated your willingness for us to use your personal information, we may use the information collected from you via this Web site for promotional or marketing purposes, such as to provide you with information that we think may be of interest to you, from ourselves, Baxter Healthcare Corporation affiliates or third parties. If at any time you do not wish to receive such communications, please let us know (see Opting Out section below). We reserve the right to use or disclose personal information collected via this site as necessary to respond to your requests; comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal process, and law enforcement inquiries; take precautions against liability; and protect the security and integrity of the site and the safety of its users. Except as otherwise provided in this Privacy Policy or at the point of information collection, we will only transfer your personal information to third parties in the following circumstances: (1) to Baxter Healthcare Corporation affiliates (and then only in accordance with this Privacy Policy), and (2) to third parties related to responding to your requests or improving the site (e.g. entities that we use to provide technical or fulfilment services). We may also combine personal information we receive via this Web site with data from third parties or publicly available information to help us get to know you better, but we will only share such information with Baxter Healthcare Corporation affiliates.
We may also use information that you provide via this Web site in aggregate (not individually identifiable) form to provide Baxter Healthcare Corporation affiliates and third parties (which may include advertisers) information about our Web site visitors. Likewise, we use cookie information, IP addresses, and the like to help us administer the site and improve the content of the site for our visitors.
Any data provided by, or collected from you, will be held on a server in the United States. We have selected a third party in the United States to house and maintain this website, and this company has agreed in writing to protect the privacy of your information. Selected people, who work for the third party, will look at your data only to support the server on which it is stored.
Children's Privacy Policy
At Baxter we recognise that children under the age of 13 are the most vulnerable users in the online world and merit special consideration. Therefore, this portion of our privacy policy - our children's privacy policy - describes our policies regarding information collected from children under the age of 13 via this Web site: what type of information we collect, how we collect it, how we use the information collected, and what rights parents have regarding such information.
What information do we collect from Children Under Age 13?
Although we do not retain personal information from children under the age of 13, we always welcome inquiries from parents, and ask that they contact us as specified below.
Opting Out
At any time, you can request that we stop providing you with TravelFactor updates or delete your personal information from our records by contacting us via the Contact us page of this web site and adding the words "Opt out" to the message field.
Protecting Your Information
Although we take reasonable steps to protect the personally identifiable information that you provide via this site, no system is 100% secure or error-free. Therefore, we do not, and cannot, guarantee the security or accuracy of the information we gather.

Who Collects Information at TravelFactor?
Baxter Healthcare Corporation is the sole operator of TravelFactor and is the only entity that collects information from TravelFactor. In the event you have any questions or concerns with respect to our practice of collecting information at this site, please contact us.
Links to third parties
We provide a number of links and references on our Web site to other Web sites and third parties that we think might be of interest to our visitors. Please note that our Privacy Policy does not apply to these Web sites or third parties and that you are solely responsible for your interactions with such Web sites and third parties. You and your child should review the privacy policies of such sites and discuss the instances in which you think it is appropriate to disclose personal information on the Internet.
Web Beacons
Our web pages contain electronic images (called a "single-pixel gif" or "Web beacon") that allow us to count page views or to access our cookies. In general, any electronic image viewed as part of a Web page, including an ad banner, can act as a Web beacon. Web beacons are typically very small, 1 by 1 pixel size, banner like files, but their presence can be easily seen within Internet Explorer by clicking on "View" and then on "Source." Web beacons are so small in order not to use valuable space on the computer screen that is better used to display helpful content. We also may include Web beacons in HTML-formatted newsletters containing graphics that we send to opt-in subscribers in order to count how many newsletters have been read. In addition, some advertising networks that serve ads on our Web sites may use Web beacons within in their clearly visible banner advertisements. Our Web beacons do not collect, gather, monitor or share any personal information about our Web site visitors. They are just the technique we use to compile our anonymous, aggregated statistics about Web site usage.
Changes to the privacy policy
We reserve the right to change our Privacy Policy at any time , and we will post the revised Privacy Policy here so you will always know what information we collect and how we use and disclose it. You should check here periodically for any changes and particularly before you provide personal information on subsequent visits.
Any use of this Web site is subject to acceptance of the terms of this Privacy Policy as well as to the site's Terms and Conditions. Your use of this site constitutes your acceptance of the current Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.
This policy was last revised November 2004.
